Becoming a Paragliding Pilot: The Path From P1-P2 to Tandem Pilot
If a tandem flight left you wondering "could I fly myself?", the answer is yes. Here is the step-by-step path under THSF rules, from P1-P2 all the way to tandem pilot.

Becoming a paragliding pilot doesn't happen in a few days; it is a step-by-step path where each level requires the one before. All FlyPanda courses follow THSF (Turkish Air Sports Federation) rules and certificates are issued through THSF.
1. P1-P2 Student Pilot: first steps
Where everyone starts. Basic theory, wing control in ground handling and your first gliding flights with an instructor. You need to be at least 15 and have no health condition that prevents sport. At this level only EN-A wings, the safest category, are used.
At the end you receive a course completion certificate; the right to fly solo comes with the next level.

2. P3 Novice Pilot: flying on your own
After P1-P2, this is where you become a pilot who flies under your own control. Forward and reverse launches, the basics of ridge and thermal flying, and emergency training over water (SIV) are covered here. Solo flying comes with the P3 level card.
3. P4 Intermediate Pilot
The level where you learn to stay in thermals for longer and practise advanced emergency manoeuvres. Prerequisite: P3.
4. P5 Experienced Pilot
The cross-country (XC) level: flying in different regions and planning airspace and routes. Prerequisite: P4.
5. T1 and T2 Tandem Pilot
For pilots who want to take a passenger. T1 opens after P5 under the conditions set by THSF; commercial tandem flying comes with T2.
